As previously seen here, Ocean Software’s games based on popular movie titles have been hit or miss. Thankfully for them, Rambo: First Blood Part II was a big hit. With a design and gameplay very much like Commando, FBPII also smartly incorporated the storyline of the film and musical scores from it into the game, giving it direction and tying it into the film franchise. Like Commando, FBPII is a fast-paced sidescroller. You start off with only a throwing knife, but weapon upgrades can be found placed around the map which enable you to gain power and reach enemies at range. FBPII broke some ground in that it was among the first games to utilize stealth and have a vehicle that could be controlled by the player.
